AI and Parenthood

It's been a long time since my last post, and so much has changed. I'm now the proud dad of a beautiful and very bright baby girl. My wife and I couldn't be happier—she was dreamed, planned, expected, and she definitely has a place to belong and grow in this world. So "check" for one of my personal life goals: becoming a dad.

Becoming a dad has been transformative. I was fortunate to take nearly three months of Parental Leave, giving me the chance to care for my wife and daughter. For the first month, I barely touched a computer—the longest break I've had in over 15 years. It was refreshing to disconnect from work and focus on family.

Eventually, I returned to my passion for technology. I tinkered with Google Antigravity, used GitHub Copilot, and explored some CLI tools. It was actually really fun to see how AI could help me experiment and build, even outside of work.

The company where I work has been "all in" on AI since 2024, and I've always been an early adopter of whatever tools and technologies come my way.
But during Parental Leave, I leaned on AI more than ever. I've never thought I could completely delagate work to an AI Agent.
With a solid plan and some RED-GREEN-CHECK loops, I was able to jumpstart several projects and enjoy the thrill of making things work quickly.

Eventually I got really good at guiding the AI to do what I wanted, and its been a blast to see how much I can accomplish with the right prompts and feedback. It's like having a supercharged assistant that can help me iterate faster and explore new ideas. One of those ideas is this small blog engine and the blog itself, which I built with the help of AI Agents in just a few hours.

It's been a fun way to start writing again and share my thoughts on AI, parenthood, and whatever else comes to my wondering mind.

Coding is still something I love, but AI is becoming an essential part of my toolbox. It's changing how I approach problems and build solutions, and I'm excited to see where it takes me next. Whether it's automating tasks, generating content (NOT THIS POST!), or just brainstorming ideas, AI is proving to be an invaluable partner in my creative process.

If you're reading this, thanks for sticking around. Parenthood and AI are both journeys—I'm excited to share more as I navigate both.
